After six years of strategic planning and review, the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, NY decided to sell artworks and objects outside the institution's mission to acquire, exhibit and preserve both Modern and contemporary art. Sotheby's auctioned 200 antiquities and pre-Modern works worth $15m from the collection to raise funds to purchase Modern and contemporary art to strengthen the gallery's holding. The oversized catalogue illustrates highlights of the historic objects offered by the gallery. It consists of 195 pages mostly illustrated in 4/color process plus PMS bronze, and all described in detail.
